Why is this retreat for only 18+ age groups?
Simply put, the retreat is wine-centred, and the legal drinking age is 18. SEVENTH Wines does not cater for children.

Written in Stone and SEVENTH Wines are collaborating to create a fun and indulgent retreat for writers. It’s all about unleashing the creative within using a unique spin of the seven deadly sins.

What level of writing is the retreat aimed at?
From beginner to advanced. The retreat is about words, wine, food and fun. If you enjoy a good time, a decent glass of red, playing with words, you’ll fit right in.
Where is the retreat located?
The majority of the writing sessions and two dinners will be located at SEVENTH Wines, Ballandean, a stunning picturesque winery overlooking the rolling granite hills and sun-streaked vineyard. As well as several hand-picked wineries for your personalised wine tour, Olive Farm tour not open to the public, and more. We’re going to show you the best the Granite Belt has to offer while indulging your senses.
What are the arrival and departure times?
The retreat commences at 4:00pm on Thursday, 18 September 2025.
The ‘Sin with Us’ bus will pick you up from your accommodation and bring you to SEVENTH Wines where you’ll meet your hosts and writing retreat friends.
Is Wi-Fi available at the retreat?
Yes. Wi-Fi will be available at SEVENTH Wines.
Wi-Fi may not be available at other venues. If you require internet connection at all times, it’s best to ensure you have mobile data available.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes. Payment in full required at time of booking. A full refund is available until 14 days before the start date of the retreat. A cancellation fee of $250 applies if cancelled between 8-14 days before the retreat. No refund available if cancelled within 7 days of the retreat.
Who are your preferred accommodation providers?
We recommend finding accommodation in Ballandean within close proximity to SEVENTH Wines where the majority of the Written in Stone Writers' Retreat is hosted. While return transport is included from surrounding suburbs including Stanthorpe (approx. 20km from SEVENTH Wines), to enhance your retreat experience and minimise bus transfers, staying in and around Ballandean is ideal.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?
We will do our best to cater for dietary requirements.
We can cater for gluten free or vegetarian. Please advise of you have any allergies.
Will there be any other drinks available besides wine?
Yes. SEVENTH grows for Australia’s leading grape-based distillers, Conrads Distillery. Please note as this is a licensed venue, there are no BYO options. Limited non-alcoholic beverages are also available.
What should I pack or bring with me?
A positive attitude. Willingness to learn and have fun. The retreat will be hosted both indoors and outdoors. September can get chilly in the shade or when the sun sets. Bring layers of clothing.
Pen and notebooks will be provided for the writing sessions.
Will there be photographs taken at the event?
Yes. Photographs will be taken throughout the course of the three days and may be used on social media, website, or other promotional uses. If you do not wish to be photographed, please advise before the commencement of the retreat.
How do I get to Ballandean?
Written in Stone Writers’ Retreat is located in Ballandean.
Ballandean is approximately 3.5hrs from the Gold Coast and 3hrs from Brisbane.
Once you reach your accommodation, the ‘Sin With Us’ bus will pick you up and drop you off to ensure that you get the best experience the retreat has to offer.
